NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE EDUCATION &RESEARCH BHUBANESWAR (ORISSA)
National Institute of science education & Research (NISET)is being set up by the Department of Atomic energy of Government of India and is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a Deemed University within the Department of Atomic Energy at Bhubaneswar in Orissa, beginning with the academic year 2007-08, having a 5-year integrated M.Sc.Programme in basic sciences (Biology,Chemistry,Mathematics,Physics) after 10+2 (or equivalent schooling.
Aim: the aim of this special institute is to nurture world class scientists for the country who will take up challenging research and teaching assignments in Universities,R&D institutions and industry.
Duration: A balanced semester-based cause structure with a flexible seamless curriculum that emphasizes interdisciplinary nature of science in the 21st century and promotes exploration, innovation ad research. The curriculum for the first two semesters will be common to all and specialization will begin with the 3rd semester.
 Seats: there are 40 seats in the first year
 Reservation: 15% for SC and 7.5%for ST categories.
 Eligibility:
1) General category:60% marks and 55% for SC/ST Category:55% aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent )examination, from any recognized Board in India. Personal with disability (PD) Category (i) 55% in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination Age Limit: Candidates born on or after 01 Oct.1982 are eligible to apply, relaxable by 5 years for Sc/St candidates.
 2) Students appearing in examination are also eligible to apply and authentication of documents revealing marks or grades in the form of certificate by Central Board
 Admission Procedure: The questions will be of objective type designed to test comprehension and analytical ability of the candidates .Based on the NEST score a limited number of students will be called for interview at Bhubaneswar.
Students who are Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Fellows or those who have qualified in the India National Olympiad Examination??(2007)organized by HBCSE (TIER) need not have to go through NEST, provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria for admission and send their applications along with application fee at time

 value: The students admitted to NISER will receive a scholarship of Rs. 3,000/-p.m. and a suitable book grad. Those performing exceedingly well in M.Sc.may have a have to be absorbed in R&D units and autonomous research institutions of the Department of Atomic Energy. Besides scholarships, the students are also provided (a) a residential campus with a faculty of distinguished teachers and scientists (b) Facilities such as sports and cultural activities.
