ONGC Foundation Scholarship for Economically Weaker Students (OBC and General)

ONGC Foundation has invited applications under the Scholarship Schemes for (i) OBC Category and (ii) Economically Weaker General Category Students, for 2019-20.

A total of 500 scholarships will be given in each scheme worth Rs.48,000/- per annum to meritorious OBC and Economically weaker General category students pursuing first-year professional courses in Engineering & Medical stream and Master's degree course in Business Administration, Geology or Geophysics. Of the total, 50% scholarships are reserved for girl students.

Eligibility, number of scholarships and duration of the scholarship are as follows: (i) Engineering: Eligibility-10+2; number of Scholarships-300; for 4 years (ii) MBBS: 10+2; 50, 4 years (iii) MBA: Graduation; 50; 2 years (iv) Masters in Geology/ Geophysics: Graduation; 100, 2 years.

A total of 100 scholarships will be distributed in each Zone. The distribution of States/UTs amongst the Zones is as follows:

  • Zone-1 (North): J&K, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh
  • Zone-2 (West): Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar; Haveli
  • Zone-3 (North East) Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura
  • Zone-4 (East) Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal
  • Zone-5 (South) Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Pudducherry, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The specific zone where a student can apply for this scholarship depends on the location of the University/Institute/College in which the student was studying for the qualifying examination.

Eligibility: The applicant should be undergoing a full-time regular course. Applicant should have secured a minimum 60% marks or an OGPA/CGPA of 6.0 in 10 points scale of grading system, in the concerned qualifying examination. The Gross annual family income from all sources must be less than Rs.2 Lakhs. The applicant should not be more than 30 years of age as on 1st January 2020.
