Inter University Centre for Bioscience, under Kannur University, has offered G N Ramachandran Scholarships for research students and for university/college teachers, seperately.
GN Ramachandran Scholarship is a short term fellowship to meet the out-station expenses of students, offered to five post graduate students (preferably one for Kannur University, two for other universities in Kerala and two for universities outside Kerala) for getting trained in research methods in structural biology (Xray Crystallography). The tenure of the fellowship is one month extendable to one more month if recommended by the faculty council of the IUCB. The training programme includes training in protein purification, crystallization, diffraction data collection, structure solution and critical study of the solved structure. Excepting the data collection, all other procedures are to be independently carried out by the students themselves, under the supervision of experts.
The value of the fellowship for students is Rs 3000/ per month plus the complete laboratory expenses.
The value of the fellowship for university/college teachers is Rs 6000/ per month plus the complete laboratory expenses.
