5-year Integrated Master (M.S) Course
The Govt of India, Through the Ministry of Human Resource Development has created two science institutes patterned after the Indian institute of Science (IISC).), Bangalore, in terms of a high quality research in basic sciences, but with an additional educational programme in the form of an Integrated 5-year Masters curriculum, following class XII of our School system (or its equivalent.) In addition to Kolkata and Pune,IISERs which have been in existence since July 2006.One more IISER in Mohali become functional from July 2007
Objective: the central theme of IISER is to integrate education with research so that Undergraduate and Postgraduate teachings as well as Doctoral and Post Doctoral research works are carried out in symbiosis
Each IISER requires up to students in the academic session.(Subject to change)
Eligibility: Those students who have qualified any one of the following examinations are eligible for consideration for admittance to the First year of the 5-year integrated Masters Program at the above three IISERs:
(1) KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJNA (KVPY) OF 2005 SA BATCH (www.iisc.ernet.in/kvpy)
(2) STAGE II-INDIAN NATIONAL OLYMPIAD EXAMINATION (www.hbcse.tifr.res.in/Olympiads)
(3) IIT JEE-2007.
Students wishing to pursue Science as a career with scientific research and teaching and have passed (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination in previous year or will be appearing in next year may apply in plain paper giving all the relevant information required by the institute.
